Plastic molds are tools that are matched with plastic molding machines in the plastics processing industry to give plastic products a complete configuration and precise dimensions. According to the different molding methods, it can be divided into 6 types of molds.

1. Injection Mold

Equipment: injection molding machine

It is mainly a molding die that is most commonly used in the production of thermoplastic parts.

Principle: The plastic is heated and melted in the heating barrel at the bottom of the injection molding machine, and then driven by the screw or plunger of the injection molding machine, it enters the mold cavity through the injection molding machine nozzle and the casting system of the mold, and the plastic is cooled and hardened to form, and the product is demolded .

Application: Plastic products produced by injection molding process are very extensive, from daily necessities to various complex electrical appliances, auto parts, etc., are molded by injection molds. It is the most widely used processing method in the production of plastic products.

2. Blow Mold

Equipment: Plastic blow molding machine

A mold used to form hollow plastic containers (such as beverage bottles, daily chemical products and other packaging containers).

Classification: According to the process principle, the forms of blow molding mainly include extrusion blow molding, hollow molding, injection blow molding, hollow molding (commonly known as injection stretch blow), multi-layer blow molding, hollow molding, and sheet blow molding etc.

Application: Blow molding is only suitable for the production of thermoplastic products.

3. Extrusion Die

Equipment: plastic extruder

A type of mold used to mold and produce continuous-shaped plastic products, also called extrusion molding heads

Application: Widely used in the processing of pipes, bars, monofilaments, plates, films, wire and cable coatings, profiled materials, etc.

Principle: The solid plastic is melted and plasticized under the conditions of heating and the screw rotation and pressure of the extruder, and a continuous plastic product with the same cross-section as the die shape is made through a specific shape of the die.

Its manufacturing materials mainly include carbon structural steel, alloy tools, etc. Some extrusion dies will also be inlaid with wear-resistant materials such as diamond on the parts that need wear-resistant.


4. Blister Mold

A mold that uses plastic plates and sheets as raw materials to form some simpler plastic products.

Principle: The plastic plate or sheet fixed on the concave mold or the convex mold is deformed under the condition of heating and softening by using the vacuum blooming method or the compressed air molding method to stick to the cavity of the mold to obtain the desired molded product.

Application: Mainly used in the production of packaging products such as daily necessities, food and toys.

Due to the low pressure during forming, the blister mold is made of cast aluminum or non-metallic materials, and the structure is relatively simple.

5. Compression Mold

Equipment: pressure forming machine

It includes two structural mold types: compression molding and injection molding. They are a type of mold mainly used to mold thermoset plastics.

Principle: According to the characteristics of the plastic, the compression molding method heats the mold to the molding temperature (usually 103°108°), and then puts the measured compression powder into the mold cavity and the feeding chamber, closes the mold, and the plastic acts under high heat and high pressure The bottom is softened and viscous, and after a certain period of time, it is solidified and shaped into the desired product shape.

6. High-expanded Polystyrene Molding Die

Principle: Expandable polystyrene can be steamed into the mold

Classification: simple manual operation mold and hydraulic straight-through foam plastic mold

Application: Used to produce packaging products for industrial products. The materials used to make this kind of mold are cast aluminum, stainless steel, bronze and so on.
