Melamine Machine Maintenance Guide | Reduce Downtime & Extend Equipment Life

October 16 , 2026

Melamine molding presses, preheaters and edge grinders represent high value capital equipment for tableware manufacturers. Planned maintenance reduces unplanned downtime, cuts product reject rates and extends machine service life.

Shunhao Factory covers melamine dinnerware compression machines with hydraulic systems, tension columns and large diameter pistons, melamine powder preheating machines, and dinnerware automatic grinding machines. All procedures come from our 20+ years of on-site service experience across global melamine factories. Shunhao would like to share the maintenance guide with tableware factories.

Melamine Machine Scheduled Maintenance Checklist

1. Daily Maintenance (Every Shift, Before & After Operation)

  • Clean melamine flash and powder residue on mold, platen and machine body
  • Check hydraulic oil level and oil leakage on pipelines
  • Verify heating plate & temperature sensor function
  • Test emergency stop and safety guards
  • Lubricate guide rails; log running status

2. Weekly Maintenance

  • Clean hydraulic oil filter
  • Retighten loose frame and mold base bolts
  • Inspect guide sleeve and piston seal wear
  • Calibrate temperature controller
  • Check edge grinding wheel condition & dust removal

3. Monthly Maintenance

  • Hydraulic oil quality test; replace oil if contaminated
  • Inspect tension column and large diameter piston for deformation
  • Clean electrical cabinet, remove dust
  • Calibrate molding pressure accuracy
  • Full bearing lubrication

4. Quarterly & Annual Major Overhaul

  • Disassemble and inspect core wearing components
  • Test cylinder sealing and pressure holding performance
  • Mold cleaning, polishing and anti-rust storage
  • Full electrical safety inspection
  • Overall machine performance calibration

Maintenance for Key Melamine Machine Components

1. Hydraulic System (Most frequent failure point)

The hydraulic system delivers molding pressure and causes most machine breakdowns. Use manufacturer-recommended hydraulic oil and stick to replacement schedules. Regularly check joints for leaks that waste oil and destabilize pressure.

2. Tension Column & Large-Diameter Piston

These are vital load-bearing safety components. Inspect monthly for fatigue, cracks or deformation. Poor maintenance may cause severe machine damage and workplace incidents.

3. Heating Plates & Temperature Control System

Uneven heating mainly triggers bubbles and surface flaws on melamine tableware. Clear melamine powder residue from heating plates and recalibrate temperature sensors regularly for uniform heat.

4. Molds

Molds define product surface quality. Remove flash after every shift and apply anti-rust treatment for long-term storage. Never scrape mold surfaces roughly, as scratches transfer to finished goods.

5. Preheater

Preheaters soften melamine powder prior to molding. Routinely wipe drum residue and verify even temperature; hot or cold zones create inconsistent molding outcomes.

6. Edge Grinding Machine

Grinding wheels wear rapidly. Check wheel sharpness and dust removal systems weekly. Clogged dust collectors bring safety risks and poor edge finish.

A Real Case from One of Shunhao’s Clients for Study

An Africa melamine tableware factory running 8 sets of 600-ton melamine molding presses relied solely on reactive breakdown maintenance for two years. It struggled with 48 hours of monthly unplanned downtime, a high product reject rate, and recurring failures of hydraulic seals and tension columns. With professional technical guidance and systematic operator training delivered by the Shunhao team, the factory implemented this complete preventive maintenance schedule and stocked critical wearing spare parts recommended by Shunhao. Within 12 months, the factory achieved remarkable improvements: unplanned downtime saw a substantial reduction, melamine tableware reject rates fell sharply, and emergency repair costs went down significantly. Shunhao’s long-term after-sales technical support and standardized maintenance training help factories build stable operation systems and avoid unexpected production interruptions.
